I feel very fortunate to have Fridays as prep days. This allows me to clean the school, plan for the next week, and reflect on the past weeks learning. Since I am at the beginning of a new school year I wanted to take a moment this Friday to process how the first week went. All that I could think about was how amazing the kids were! The first week is usually exciting, but very exhausting for me as we work to learn new routines and play/learn together. It is fun but there is always so much going on. This year everything just seemed to go so smoothly. Our first day was full of love, happiness, hugs, and tons of learning! I was amazed by how kind my group of kids were on the first day. They were focused and were fabulous listeners. I thought they deserved to hear this, in a FUN way! I spent some time writing all twelve kids who are enrolled in my program this year a mini letter (very short and age appropriate) with a printed picture of them from the first week. I also stuck some cute bird stickers in there. I mailed them off and they should get them Saturday! I am hoping this will give parents a chance to hear about their child's first week as they discuss what they see in the picture, and for the kids to hear how happy I am they are coming to Preschool.
Are there quick/fun ways that you connect with your students at the start of a new year?
