I have been dreaming up new felt-board activities ever since I made my own boards last month! I thought it would be fun to make some Fall Tree pieces for the kids to play with during our Fall Theme :) We had it out for the first time today, and the kids LOVED it!
To Make:
Cut Out Trees and Branches
I used three different shades of brown, and tried to make a large tree (with a lot of attached branches) and a smaller tree (without attached branches) in each color. Then I put a small container of loose branches out for them to add on to either.
Make and/or Buy Leaves
I found a set of felt leaves at the dollar store, and a nice set at Michaels. I also went ahead and cut out a set of smaller leaves in red, green, yellow, and orange felt. This gave some nice size and color variety :) And, another chance for the kids to work on sorting!
How My Preschoolers Used It
This activity is out for our morning choice time (an hour of child-directed play and learning). Kids could use it if they wanted during this time. But today, it was also one of our 3 center options for our centers time. You can read about how I run centers HERE. This way, all children had a chance to try it out for ten minutes!
