I focus much of my holiday energy on doing fun things with the preschoolers in my life! But, December marks a great time to not only have fun with the kids, but also to have fun with the grown-up in your life too :) Each year I make an adult advent calendar. Sometimes for a girlfriend, but oftentimes for the man in my life :) Sometimes I'll make a chocolate one for myself too....it is fun and creative and lets me spend some time pampering another adult! Here are a few ideas from my favorite calendars:
My Past Advent Calendars
One year I made an advent calendar that hung on the wall. Each day you got to cut something off. Many days had cute boxes, others were wrapped in tissue. I wrote the day on a round sticker and hung it with red twine.
One year I made a wreath using scrap boxes and toilet paper/tissue tubes. Some tubes I made from boxes. I wrapped it all in brown paper and used ribbon as the decoration :)
This Years Calendar!
This year I am making one using two of my old Coke/Pepsi crates. I plan to put a box or package in each square! I attached some cinnamon sticks to the top with red twine. The extra cool part is that I painted the top of my (third year being used) boxes with chalkboard paint! Now I can use them each year and re-number easily!
Here it is all finished :)
Let the FUN Begin!
